Patient, personalized instruction for children and adults by enthusiastic, certified music teacher.
I LOVE to teach music lessons to children and adults of all ages including, ...Guitar, Bass, Upright, and Electric Guitar and Piano.
My role is to motivate and ensure students learn at a comfortable speed and style. I never lose sight of the fact that learning music is a voluntary and fun activity with many side benefits. It has to be enriching to each student .
Of course, there are challenges and the feeling of accomplishment with improvement!
It's much easier to learn something than unlearn something. That's why introductory lessons that teach correct technique are so important. Fixing bad habits is very difficult.
My teaching is a "No Lecture Zone". Lecturing to students about practice or saying negative things accomplishes nothing and are avoided at all costs. I remain positive oriented and encouraging.
I developed an innovative approach based on researching the Psychology of Music. With this knowledge my students develop improved senses of pitch and rhythm.
With children I teach fun songs with a "hidden" technical lessons. Thus, children have fun while improving their technique and musicality. With more experienced students I work with songs, theory, reading, ear and rhythm training.
Serious students or advanced beginners start classical and/or jazz lessons. For talented students they can start by learning both songs and reading music from the start.
Bass Players: I love the bass and low notes. Bass Players are in demand, and I can teach holistic bass lessons on electric or upright bass. I start and with simple parts that work and grow into creating melodic, funky bass parts. Many of my electric bass or even guitar students become interested in learning string bass, which opens up opportunities for ensembles and playing the upright bass is an excellent method to get scholarships to college.
I am happy to help my students get proper fitting, real student instruments with solid tops at low cost. They are easy to play and sound good. I can also get the best of the Chinese guitars made to my specifications at great prices. I look for special deals from known luthiers, especially try and find ones with minor cosmetic blemishes.
You can call me at 321-591-1954 I teach in Gold River, just north of 50 off Hazel or in Davis. For an extra charge I will teach at the student's home.
Introductory Lesson Free if you ask for it.
I also buy and sell quality guitars and basses that play easy and sound great. Since 1997 I have a 100% feedback rating on EBAY. I'll be happy to help you get a great instrument at my price.
I have taught on the college level Computer Science, Educational Psychology, Guitar Classes and Music for Educators. I have 5 years of school teacher experience, and over 11 years of combined industry teaching.
I've been teaching private music lessons since I was in high school.
Interestingly, students that major in music have the highest percentage of any major that get accepted to med school. There is an extensive body of literature that shows that students that study music do better in many areas of academics. Remember, Einstein never used flashcards. He attributed his abilities to learning the violin as a child. Similarly, it's no surprise that MIT is filled with great musicians and musical ensembles. The link with abstract math, science and computer subjects and studying music is incredible.
Here is a simple website on the academic benefits of learning music. Getting music lessons for your children is a great gift for them. If you want your children to become talented scientists, they don't need to memorize for tests, they need to develop their creative mind with music.
